Founder of the firm’s Personal Injury Department in 1991, Guy Barnett has, in the course of the last year, steered Blakemores in its strategy of controlled expansion and polarisation enabling it to service a growing market whilst still meeting the needs of existing clients. In addition, he ensures that Blakemores achieves national recognition in Claimant Personal Injury work.

This was recognised by the researchers for the Legal 500 who, in 2006, commented in the editorial for Personal Injury work in the West Midlands that:-

"Blakemores boast a substantial team of 4 Partners and 35 other Fee Earners led by the renowned Guy Barnett".

Guy is respected by colleagues and peers alike which has further led to him receiving the award of Solicitor of the Year, 2007 by the Birmingham Law Society.

Guy is the Founder and Managing Director of “Perception”; Blakemores own independent insurance arm. Its creation stirred up much controversy in the insurance world, as it was the first indication of a law firm altering its business model to incorporate insurance services. Guy’s objective behind Perception was to enable Blakemores to improve its client care and service within Claimant Personal Injury. Blakemores now provides insurance products, such as ‘Before-the-Event’ and ‘After-the-Event’ policies that are based upon ethical workable models.

Guy specialises in management reorganisation as well as consultancy and training. In his role as the firm’s Managing Partner, he has revolutionised the firm’s structure and retrained the management staff through a series of intense courses complemented by ongoing coaching and mentoring. These efforts have not only substantially increased the firm’s profitability but have enabled Blakemores to attain the Investors in People Leadership and Management standard; the first legal firm in the West Midlands to do so.
